À propos de Ultravox

Ultravox is an iconic, highly influential British new wave, synthpop, and post-punk band formed in London in 1974 by John Foxx (classic era) and later catapulted to multi-platinum global arena superstardom when Scottish singer, guitarist, and producer Midge Ure took over as frontman alongside Billy Currie, Chris Cross, and Warren Cann in 1979. Their seminal 1980 multi-platinum album 'Vienna' produced the monumental, operatic synthpop masterpiece title track 'Vienna' (widely voted the greatest UK Number Two single in history and Ivor Novello Award winner), alongside classics like 'Sleepwalk' and 'Passing Strangers'. Their subsequent blockbuster albums, including 'Rage in Eden' (1981), 'Quartet' (produced by George Martin, 1982), and 'Lament' (1984), yielded enduring global anthems such as 'Dancing with Tears in My Eyes', 'Reap the Wild Wind', 'The Voice', and 'Hymn'. Ultravox performed at the historic Live Aid concert in 1985 (co-organized by Midge Ure), cementing their legacy as pioneers of electronic stadium rock. For keyboardists and guitarists worldwide, Ultravox's songs offer an extraordinary study in grand minor-key synthesizer arpeggios, dramatic piano chords, and soaring guitar solos that are universally celebrated in new wave history.
