Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA) dibentuk di Palm Desert, California pada tahun 1996 oleh sang visioner gitaris & vokalis Josh Homme menyusul bubarnya band pionir Kyuss. QOTSA memadukan riffing gitar berbobot berat (stoner rock), ritme groove yang seksi, dan harmoni melodi yang memukau dengan 9 nominasi Grammy Awards.
Album mahakarya Platinum 'Songs for the Deaf' (2002 - featuring Dave Grohl pada drum) melahirkan lagu-lagu legendaris 'No One Knows' dan 'Go with the Flow'. Mahakarya lainnya meliputi 'Make It Wit Chu', 'Little Sister', 'I Sat by the Ocean', 'The Way You Used to Do', dan 'Paper Machete'.
