U2

U2 is universally revered as one of the most critically celebrated, culturally impactful, and commercially monumental rock bands in global music history, formed in Dublin, Ireland, in 1976 by frontman Bono (Paul Hewson), lead guitarist/keyboardist The Edge (David Evans), bassist Adam Clayton, and drummer Larry Mullen Jr. With over 170 million records sold worldwide, 22 Grammy Awards (more than any other group in history), and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, U2 redefined the possibilities of arena and stadium rock. Their landmark 1987 diamond-certified masterpiece album 'The Joshua Tree' produced the immortal worldwide Number One anthems 'With or Without You', 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For', and 'Where the Streets Have No Name'. Their revolutionary 1991 reinvention album 'Achtung Baby' yielded the timeless emotional masterwork 'One' and 'Mysterious Ways', followed by global smash hits like 'Beautiful Day', 'Sunday Bloody Sunday', 'Pride (In the Name of Love)', and 'Vertigo'. Renowned for Bono's passionate, soaring vocal delivery and socio-political activism alongside The Edge's pioneering delay-drenched, chiming sonic architecture, U2's record-breaking live spectacles (such as the 360° Tour and opening residency at the Las Vegas Sphere) set the world standard for stadium performance. For guitarists worldwide, The Edge's dotted-eighth delay rhythmic strumming (most famously the D - A - Bm - G progression of 'With or Without You') and Bono's acoustic chord changes are among the most celebrated and studied in rock history.
