Within Temptation

Within Temptation is an internationally renowned, multi-platinum Dutch symphonic metal and gothic rock band formed in Waddinxveen, Netherlands, in 1996 by iconic soprano vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. With millions of albums sold worldwide, Within Temptation is universally celebrated as one of the most prominent, innovative, and commercially successful symphonic metal bands in rock history. Their landmark international breakthrough albums 'Mother Earth' (2000), 'The Silent Force' (2004), and 'The Heart of Everything' (2007) produced immortal symphonic rock anthems including 'Memories', 'Stand My Ground', 'Angels', 'All I Need', 'Ice Queen', 'Faster', and 'Paradise (What About Us?)' featuring Tarja Turunen. The band's signature sound marries Sharon den Adel's breathtaking, crystalline operatic soprano range with crushing heavy metal guitar riffs, lush orchestral arrangements, and cinematic electronic textures. Within Temptation has headlined major global festivals including Wacken Open Fire, Hellfest, and Download Festival, performing historic sold-out orchestral concerts with the Metropole Orchestra. For guitarists and pianists worldwide, Within Temptation's catalog offers an extraordinary study in dramatic minor-key power-ballad chord changes (such as the sweeping strings and piano chords of 'Memories'), heavy drop-tuned metal riffs, and soaring melodies that are widely celebrated across the globe.
